Anyone know where I can get 4 scissor jacks like the stock one for less then $128.82 each? They don't have to be the exact same thing, just the same capacity and no larger in collapsed height.
I want to mount 4 of them under the car, hook up a gear motor to each one and lift the car up anywhere, anytime with the push of a button.
Thanks

Your friendly neighborhood junkyard may have them.
is your car that much of a POS that it needs to have the ability to hoist itself at a moments notice for repairs?

swooosh!
Find jacks that don't have a handle but a nut on the end, get a cordless driver w the correct size socket. Jack it up that way. WAY simpler than rigging up some gear driven setup where are cars don't have room anyways.
Kardain - Yeah I'm looking at junkyards now. I'd rather buy 4 brand new jacks so I know they're identical though. Are all model year Cavalier jacks the same?
DennisGT - No, my car is not a POS... it is just a pain in the ass to jack it up when I need to because it's lowered a little, and jacking it off all 4 wheels takes forever. I also travel a lot and would like a simple way to get under there without a bunch of floor jacks and stands.
FstCavZ24 - I have it all drawn up, it is pretty simple to fit the jacks under there. Motors, controller and 80/20 are free for me.
Steve - Please elaborate. Why do you think it's "stupid" and can you give me suggestions?

The best way to jack your car up fast:
Low profile quick lift jack. You can get some that are only a couple inches tall.

1995 - 2003 Cavi's and Sunfires, as well as Luminas from 2000-01, Malibu's from 1997-2003, Alero's from 99-03, and Grand Am's from 99-02 all use the same jack part #.

So in short, yes.
Wow that makes shopping so much easier. Thanks!

something else you might want to consider, Northern Tool and Equipment has them at 1-ton for $30 2-ton for $50 web addy is
Nothern Tool just another option to persue.
I dont see the point. Do you really have to jack your car up that much. Why not just get a cheap floor jack and keep it in your trunk.

Frankly, if you get this setup working, I think it'll be damned cool!!
Totally overkill and way too much engineering to really make sense... but I'll be totally impressed when your car can just lift itself up like an indy car whenever you want it to.
I took mine out of my car along with my spare tire so if you want it its yours. send me a message.
get 4 two inch high pieces of wood that are 1.5 sq feet area then drive your car on those to jack it up.

He wants to do what the F1 cars do, just push a button, the jacks push down and lift the car up, not fit a jack under there.
Hey,
That will be cool!! Keep us posted, and get a patent!!
Take care, and good luck!!

It's not an original idea at all. It's the same way the automatic leveling jacks work on my RV. I will let you know if/when I get this working. It will be a while... working on transmission issues now

interestinng idea but I would personally just get 4 jack stands. I don't really trust scissor jacks.
