Ok, I have researched this to death, and I havent found a straight answer. When I am turning left at any speed over 10 mph (and even below you can feel it in the wheel) I can hear this very distinct noise, almost sounds like the tire is rubbing, but it's not (checked), there is slight feedback through the wheel, but not much, just mostly the noise, it doesn't feel like it's going to break or anything, but its very annoying. I've looked and looked and all I've found is a mention about it being a motor mount in a tech bulletin, but a person who had the problem also said it was his steering column or something. If it was the steering column though, I would think it would make the noise turning both ways, and not just to the left. If anyone else has had this problem please let me know so I can get this thing fixed and move onto better things with my Sunfire, thanks.

Yes, its slow...but I love it
could be as simple as your brakes
i got the same problem. and i just changed the brakes so i dont think its them.
yeah my brakes were all checked over and what not right before I got the car, and I don't see that being the problem.

I have the exact same problem and haven't been able to diagose it. It makes a loud humming while turning left. It's not the brakes because it will do it even when I am stopped. Anyone know what this is??

if it happens even when you are stopped could be the power steering pump...

to me that would make sense... just a guess though
last time i had a noise like that was in an 81 mazda GLC, turned out a CV joint was bad..... glad i figured that one out, coulda been bad if it let go on me while moving
Freakin morons.... When will they learn. Hold On Not Done Accelerating
I would go with CV joint.
it may be your intermediate steering shaft. Its a pretty easy fix if in fact thats it. You just need to buy a lube kit. Search the jbo for intermediate steering shaft and you should get a lot more info.
