Is it easy to do? Does it just disconnect from the mount on the firewall?

Could also unplug the fuse...

from my own experiences, If you unplug it from under the hood you throw an abs light. If you just unplug the wheels than the light stays off. This is a general assumption and I have seen the light come on by unplugging the wheel sensors as well. So you may be stuck with a bright orange light shining in you face. I also don't know what would be said if you ever had an accident and they found that you had the breaks unplugged...abs is suppose to be a safety measure...as much as we all hate it.
