Head Gasket n valve cover

whats the stock thickness on a stock 2001 2.2 cavy head gasket wanting to get a thinner one get alil more horsepower? n taking off the valve cover do i need to drain the oil to do this kinda would like to replace it too?

dont know about the head gasket but for the valve cover no. just simply take the intake off and remove the 6-8 bolts (i dont remember how many). scrape off gasket and put on a new one. some people say you dont need a silicon sealant but i used a thin bead anyway to be safe.

for the head gasket am i going to have to get it machined first so its flat for the new gasket or should it be fine?
