okay...
96 cavalier 2.2l with 83k miles on it.
i can drive the car where ever i want where i live. never have any problems. no low oil pressure light or anything.
if i drive the car to another city thats about 20 miles or further away, the low oil pressure light will come on when i stop when i get off the hwy. it will come on and then blink. when i start to move again, it will turn off.
when i've been driving in the city for awhile and come to a stop again, the light won't turn on anymore, but i have to be driving for awhile. or if i stop the car and wait for like 2 minutes and then turn it on, the light won't be on anymore.
then when i drive back home, get off the hwy and come to a stop, the light won't come on anymore.
it seems like its only coming on when i make the about a 20 mile plus trip, but only when i get to where i'm going and when i come back home and drive the same distance, it doesn't come on.
any suggestions to help me out?
Check the sensor and make sure its not bad.
alright.. i'll try to do that today.
i drove the car all day today with no problems.
its weird cause i really don't even drive this car. it just sits in my driveway.
i actually want to get rid of it.
yeah.. oil level is perfect. right where the arrow is on the dipstick
So was it the sensor? Reason I ask is because I have the same problem in the wife's Cavy, same exact problem as OP. I never have much time to troubleshoot, so an idea of what it could be will help before I begin the repair process.
