Ive searched several threads and my problem isnt quite what others seem to have had. I have a loud ticking noise in my 2.2 Cavy engine, this noise in a constant sound, from the time I turn the car on til I turn it off it stays the same. Ive listened very carefully and it seems to be the loudest right where the water pump is, but Im not quite sure thats what it is or not. Its so bad and embarassing when driving, I pull up to a stop light and you can hear it over the engine and my exhaust when just idle. Ive also heard it could be a problem with the oil, I have added oil but havent had it changed or put in a new filter for quite some time, so the possibilty of sludge buildup was also in my mind. Wondering if anyone could help me out, IM changing the oil and filter tomorrow with wishes that will solve it, but if not Im lost.
Our lifters are great for that
It shouldn't pose any realy problem if its what Im thinking it is
My engine does the EXACT same thing
My 91 2.2 does it when its cold.

Agreed. If my timing chain tensioner doesn't wear out first the chain stretches out and I get that god awful ticking sound again within 3 months.
my 02 2.2l does it all the time. Ive been told its just the lifters
