I took off my airbox on the TB an noticed that there is no EGR plate where the EGR should be, my Z24 is a 99 and its not suppost to have one, but should there be at least a plate??? theres no bolts in the hole and the Exhaust port is exposed, its been like that since i bought it 3 years ago and havn't really noticed any problems. Should i buy one and install it? or does it have to be left open?
I have a 99 and as far as i know 99 did not have any EGR.

You don't need an EGR block off plate, unless you are removing the EGR. Since your car didn't come with EGR, there isn't any exhaust gases coming thru that "port" on the head... it's blocked off on the exhaust manifold. The head is a similar casting to the 96-98 2.4L, and the EGR hole still runs through the head... but it's not used.
If you really want to cover it up tho... you can get a plate from GM to cover it up.. but it's not necessary. All 99+ LD9's are like that.

yup what john said
you can order the plate if you think it make it look better under the hood , LOL
Does anybody have a part number for that plate? I'm getting a 98 2.4L and won't be using the EGR. From the sounds of it, I'm gonna need that plate.
I may not be the sharpest crayon in the box, but at least I'm a pretty color
plate #24575505, gasket #123714
Or switch to a 99+ exhaust manifold, which has the EGR part blocked off already. (that's why 99+ doesn't need the EGR block off plate.. it's done on the exhaust manifold). Of course.. the downpipe would have to change as well... 96-98 is four bolt rectangular flange, 99-02 is three bolt triangular flange.
