So me and my gf are driving around, and I know I need gas cuz it's on E.... Suddenly the "check gauges" light comes on and im like "poopy, I need gas"

So... My "check gauges" light is on, and my needle is on the "E" line.

I stop to put in gas and it took 12.8 gallons...

My owners manual says I have a 15 gallon tank (probably plus or minus some due to piping etc).

Should my warning light be coming on that soon? I mean 2 gallons is still a good 50 miles.

Granted it cant be good for the pump...

Not to mention... my car thinks 2 gallons is empty?

The light comes on even thou there is around 2 gallons in the tank to give you a little reserve to get to a gas station . It would suck to be on a long stretch of interstate and have the light come on right when you are about to run out .

Perfectly said. But i try and not let my needle go below 1/4 of tank , just so i dont beat on the fuel pump.
