I wanted to know if there is a certain mileage when you should defenitly get your brakes changed on your car. Right now im at 28,186 and they are still the original brakes. The reason i ask is because i notice a slight metal rubbing on metal noise when i push the brakes. The noise is extremely quiet but enough to bug me....do you guys think its time i get some new brakes.....if so Front and Rear or just the Front?
Thanks......
Gm uses cheap brake pads u should pull the wheels and check the pad thickness, other wise its probably the shims grinding against the pads causing the noise. All u would have to do is remove the front pads and apply brake quiet to the back of the brake pads it's made by permatex and that will solve the noise issue as long as the pads are not about gone,or near replacement.Make sure if u apply the brake quiet its on the back and not the side of the pad that does not touch the rotor!!!OK
Fronts pads with normal city driving go about 30k-40k miles, rears well a long time, I think mine on my old car with city driving lasted till about 95k.
