Front "Clunk"

I just began having this problem two days ago on a 96 Z24. Whenever you come to a complete stop after going about 25+mph, and then go to hit the gas again, within the first feet, a lot thud or clunk is heard from the front of the car. Originally, I thought it may have been a sticky brake, but now I'm thinking if may be a broken suspension part or, hopefully not, a transmission problem. However, it only occurs when first starting out, and does not happen while driving (or getting on it hard). Anybody have a similar problem in the past? Thanks for any help.

^^^^ I second the control arm bushings. Get some prothane ones and make a weekend project out of it.

Why couldn't it also be the strut tower bearings?

Wouldn't that be more of a clunk while turning?

Yeah, it makes the clunk while turning and while going straight, but the steering wheel doesn't move. It it was the control arm bushing, would this be visibly out, or would it have to just be replaced to see if it makes a difference?

Mine clunks when I turn and hit the brakes in reverse, then reclunks sometimes when shifting to drive and gassing it.

Autozone has the strut tower bearing kits for the third generation models (mine is a 2000), they are cataloged as "2nd generation" which I think is a better design than the OEMS if I correctly remember some of the threads I have read on this issue.

Replacing these parts is one of my summer projects.
