When I turn on my vents, non-AC. the air that comes through smells like a wet dog.........Any idea what could cause this in my 01 fire?

wet dog im not sure??? did you paint your vents or anything?
never heard of that problem before.... maybe something crawled up in your vents and died? lol not too sure
well i know that this problem is common on chrysler vehicles.....there explantation for is is the chemicals that they use to produce the evap will come off when the a/c is on......im not to sure how it is with GM's though....but anything is possible
when you have your a/c on does water drip out from the vent hole coming out of the firewall from the heater box.......if not, maybe it is plugged........if it is plugged, the water could be sitting in the heater box then maybe the smell is from the water sitting at the bottom of the box.....hope this helps any
they do sell a aerosol can of deoderizer for a/c vents.....
It's the condensation build up in your vents from using the A/C, in that, it gets a little mold/mildew buildup and you get that musky smell. To remedy the problem, run the air vent for a little while after you run your a/c. That will evaporate the condensation build up and your smelly wet dog will disappear.

In my 01 Cavalier, I had a similar problem, so they installed an electronic evaporator dryer when it was still under warranty, referencing Technical Service Bulletin No. 99-01-39-004A. It activates the blower after the car is turned off, running intermittently for short periods of time to dry the evaporator core and prevent mold buildup. I don't know if your car has any TSBs like this, a good place to check is

in my eclipse i get a nasty smell too, smells like fish to me though.

Once again, I'm not sure how it is on j-bodys, just speaking from other car experience here, but would you happen to have a cabin filter of some sort in your air system? If so, that might need to be changed. Excuse my post if you don't have one, just throwing out ideas
