2.2 OHV engines do have a bit of a headgasket issue, but they are relatively easy to change.

Yea they do 2.2L have issues, But as well as 2.2L dodge engines have prones on H/G failing as well. Usually the only reasone they fail is due to lack of changing coolant and properly flushing maintance. When coolant gets old the acidisty level get really strong, Corroisive eats at the cooling systems parts, In which they fail. I just did a head Gasket job on a 89 dodge shadow, Easy cyl head job, Big $$$ for the Reman. cyl head.

I had never worked on an engine before last year when my head gasket blew (1997 2.2). It only took a weekend to change. Be sure to drain all the coolant though, I didn't and when I unbolted the head, all the left-ever coolant went all over my garage. Good luck with it.
