uh.... oops.... (cigarette lighter)

Okay, so my cigarette lighter wasn't working (needed to plug in my new G-Tech), so I pulled the fuse and unscrewed it from the dash and cleaned all the crap out of it.... problem is, it doesn't screw back in. The heat shield thingy it screws in to is not attached to the dash and when I try to insert the lighter housing it just gets pushed back so I can't thread it in. Any ideas? How do I take my dash apart to get at the thingy?

Thanks

Does that mean Black cars are always faster than white cars?
But my dog is white and it beat a black dog in a race, so does that
mean that everything for dogs is opposite than for cars...........
p.s. where do you check the oil on a dog?.....i am so confused" - Nash

Before you put it back in... did you test it to see if it works now?

can you try spinning the lighter itself (as to screw it in) to for-say "grab" the peice it needs to screw into? If so, and you can get it on there even 1/4 of a turn, you should be able to pull the lighter towards that passanger compartment to pull this peice tight to the dash. Friction will hold it so you can tighten it the rest of the way.

Im not exactly sure what you have to work with, or what I said makes sense, but hope it helps.

So it needs to push/clip on to something behind that dash?

But when you push the peice behind the dash just moves back?

How is this peice connected behind the dash? with the wires?
