Fuel pump done?

ok here's the story, car had 1/4 tank in it at least the gauge read that when i drove it home last. It rode/drove fine, no studdering or any problems. I go to start it up saturday and it turns over but won't start. So i'm thinkin maybe no gas, i get my buddy today to bring me some gas and i put in $10 worth so there's plenty of gas. It still won't start and i'm thinkin its the fuel pump cause my buddy said when i turned the key on he couldn't hear the pump priming. Can everyone else readily hear the pump prime when you turn the ignition? I need some advice before i go rippin stuff out n replacin? Please help.

find a wiring diagram to the fuel pump, check the ground. And then jumper the wire , and see if it turns on.

There should be a wire under the hood that has a end on it but it dose not connect to any thing. 2nd gen, it should be right next to the battery. This is the pump test wire. Look it up in the hayse manuals. If you send 12v+ down this line, it should prime the fuel pump. Look on your fuel rail, there should be a test valve. There is cap on it and what looks like a tire valve. Press the valve in and if you don't get a face full of gas, your fuel pump is out.

ive got a 2000 cavalier 2.2 with a problem of not getting fuel.

after letting some toyota "mechanics" check it out, and guess what the problem was and cause my old one to leak.... i spent 250 dollars on a new fuel pump assembly and a fuel filter as well.

i felt the problem was electrical but i assumed 3 "technicians" knew something more then how to make guesses with my money.

now 2 weeks later car wont start again.
ive checked my fuel rail and i cant find any test valve on it. and with out taking the intake assembly and supporting brackets off i can't not look at the rail any further or check under the hood for fuel.

does anyone on here know of a common problem with cavaliers not getting power to fuel pump?

ive checked the fuse, its good. ive swapped the relay with the ac relay. car has spark, sprayed cleaner into throttle body before and it ran.

im not very good with electrical. can anyone shed some light on this problem for me?

Recently my girlfriends Alero stopped working, the car would crank and not start... after diagnocing for a while, I figured it was the fuel pump. She has a 2.2 Ecotec in her car, I found the valve for the fuel rail, there was no pressure there, I disconnected the fuel rail, there was no fuel in the rail... finally, bought the part, dropped the tank R&R the fuel pump, reinstalled the tank... and.... car started... she had no warning of her pump going out, she was in the car wash and the car just died.
I've heard that new aftermarket fuel pumps fail within a few weeks, most of them offer a limited lifetime warranty...
oh yeah, btw, my girlfriend help me remove and reinstall the fuel pump!
