Small rant....
took my car in to get an oil change today at someplace other than the dealer and found out the last time the drain plug was put in (at the dealer) the drain plug was either cross-threaded or over torqued! Anyways, they went to take the drain plug out today and everytime the guy turned it, it got tighter and didnt want to come off. They didnt take it all the way out just incase the threads in the oil pan were messed up and would have to be re-tapped or get a new oil pan. So now i guess i gotta take it back to the dealer up at school (3 hours away) and let them do it since they messed it up. Ok, im done, im pissed.
anybody got any thoughts or ideas of what i should do, or should i just call the dealer that did it and drive 3 hours each way to get it fixed (if they dont try to give me a run around)???

They eff'ed up... Make them repair the problem. It's not your fault the tech working on your car was a total douche.
That's why I always change my own oil.

your oil pan should be fine, the plugs are made of low grade metal, the pan is steel, usually just the bolt strips
Good luck getting them to pay for it. For one they are going to ask for reciepts, when you mention or they find out you went someplace else I doubt they will pay .02 of it.
Why dont you just change your own oil? Its pretty easy to do ya know. I always do all my own work on my cars, except now cause I have a warranty so any PROBLEMS it goes to the dealer. But for oil changes and such I do it all myself.
Also a six hour drive to maybe get it fixed. Better off doing it yourself using rethreading tool.

ok first of all, thats not unusual its happens and its not a big deal. second of all 9 times out of 10 you can feel it start to strip out a bit before it actually strips out so just because the dealer did it last doesn't mean they did it. third, if the dealer did it they will either helicoil the pan or try the over sized self tapping drain plug with no cost to you, if it neds a pan which is highly unlikely they will most likely ask for you to come up with oil change recepts... if you'd stick to ONE place you would have it repaired no problem and no cost
^^^ u have good points darkstars, its just hard for me to change it at the same place everytime cause im at school during school and during the summer im at home, which are three hours apart....
from what u guys say, hopefully they will fix it cause it sounds like it prob didnt hurt the pan and just needs to be rethreaded hopefully.
im gonna call them and see what they say, i do have the reciepts for the last few times that i have had it changed at that dealer.

yep.... dealership @!#$ mine over on me. Nice thing was i had recipts to prove it... they tapped the hole a smidge larger and through a new screw in it. I since then do it myself to know its done right.
