burning coolant?

I had this problem at the end of last year, I get a low coolant light and it is low, it only did it one time then i filled it up and didnt have a problem. I have 2k miles since my last oil change, and fluids all checked and good, but my light came on again, sure enough my coolant is gettin low. With a 2003 cavy I wonder why its going through coolant so often. I drive about 35 miles to and from work each day (summer, dont have my car at school) and then on the weekends I normally drive a stretch of 2 hours or so.

Do I just keep filling it up and if it starts burning faster get it checked out? I have not noticed any leaks of anysort.

possibly bad thermostat cheap to fix too, should cost a max of $30 if you do it yourself

a bad thermostat that is sticky can cause the coolant to flow out of the overflow resevoir

#1 no it isnt normal for a car to use, burn, or leak coolant

#2 thermostats cost about $7, you can test it by removing it and putting it is water above 180 degree, it should up, but all that takes time, and while you have it out might as well replace it since its so cheap

#, you said it was "burning" coolant, if its burning coolant and there is infact white smoke out of your exhaust pipe your headgasket is shot.

figured it out this morning!

The hosese connected to the tank, one is a new hose from RKSport and the clamp doesnt hold it firmly on the nipple of the tank, so ever so slowly when it cycles through, it spits/runs out some, and in time it drains it down.

Gonna go home and put a little tape around the nipple and slide it back over and tighten the clamp up. I could see where the coolant leaked down the tank and down the engine bay
