I went to change my sparkplugs yesterday....thinking that the 4 bits under the fuel rail on the front were where they were...all I ended up doing was making a bad gas leak from the fuel rail.....is that where the sparkplugs are? The Haynes manual is absolute garbage for sparkplugs...if you've got a 2.4L....

under the cover that says 2.4 They dont have wires either, just a boot.

yeap..take the 4 bolts off of the IDI cover that says 2.4L Twin Cam and they are under there
it requires alot more than those four bolts tho, the electrical connections should be disconnected before you remove the cover, and you will have to remove another that connects the plug adaptors to the cover. Its a good idea to unplug your negative battery cable too while you do any electrical work.
does anyone have pics of the procedure and where is the electrical connector you are talking about?
Jacob, its the connector(I dont remember any more than one connector being in the way) in your way as you try to get the cover off, pretty simple once you try it.

the connector is on the right side of the cover.
1 connector, 4 bolts, pull off.
on the side, has anyone noticed that the boots never seem to be fully on the plugs, AND firmly clipped the the coil housing at the same time? (At least on the 2.3)

Step by step
I just did it today, took about 30 minutes because the cover was hot. But yes, it is a distributerless ignition system--meaning no wires. The 4 bolts are 13mm, I believe, and then disconnect the connection w. a flathead screwdriver or plyers or something on the driver's side. Move the trottle cables out of the way, and pull out. You may need to wiggle alittle bit. After that, pull off any boots that are still on the plugs--some come out w. the cover and some don't--just reach and grab them. Take the old plugs out, gap the new ones to .060" and then insert. Finger tight, then it says 1/4 turn, just make sure they are tight in the engine. Reverse directions, making sure the boots are on the IDI cover (2.4L Twin Cam cover thingy). Make sure to connect the electrical plug, and if you put one bolt in, tighten it down, then move to the next bolt, the 4th bolt will slide in nice instead of having to guess where the last hole is.

I found a website on how to do sparkplugs on the 2.4L DOHC... I think its for the Alero but its the samething anyways, I think someone should add this to the FAQ.
