Wednesday, June 08, 2005 10:39 AM
I was going about 25-30 mph down a side road near my house and it was a little wet it had been sprinkling and i was lookin in my rear view mirror worrying about this guy behind me (3 inches off my bumper) hitting me---so i wasn't lookin ahead for like one second and there was a huge utility truck with a pindle hook hitch and i slammed into it causing a hole in my hood and my radiator to fold to look like an ass and i was wanting to know what the airbag sensor or sensors look like, i didn' t want to be takin out tthe front brace or my radiator and trip the sensor and my air bags go off and then i have to pay to have my airbags reinstalled so i need to know where the bag sensor is THX

Well in their defense, I also had a pretty hard time understanding.

I'm curious, since the guy was 3 inches from your back bumper when you hit the truck, how bad is the damage in the rear?

And the airbag sensor, if I'm not mistaken, is in the center of the bumper, behind the bumper cover. Should look like a plastic sensor with wires coming out.

I'm fairly sure it's blue and black.

Either way.. good luck getting that car fixed.

Next time, worry about the stuff in front of you, if the guy behind you hit you, sue. That is all.

I purposely spike my brakes waiting for someone that tailgates me to hit me.

And yes, I know it'd be my fault then.. but OH MY GOD.. OFFICER THIS CAT RAN OUT IN FRONT OF ME!!!!!!

Problem solved.

I know it's JUST a Cavalier, and I'm sorry if I hurt your ego.

Disconnect you batt. thsi will solve the issue of you air baggs deploying while dismantaling the front end. And most AIR bag sensors are yellow or have a yellow cover on them. This was set up by the federal Government to prevent accidental discharging of the deadly airbag.

Hit 200 NA it broke once, Hit 213 it broke again,
Hitting 300 NA is further away than I thought.

^^^

Incorrect.

Hate to tell you this but even if your battery is disconnected you still have an auxilery power (Battery) supporting the bags. Don't jerk too hard on anything or you'll possibly pop them.

I've never seen it happen but I'm sure it has. I also haven't taken a J's bumper off yet. I've only taken 2002 civic front bumpers off and the sensors were hidden to a spot that I wouldn't have touched them removing it. I'm only concerned with you popping them at a few hundred a "pop"... Literally.

If for some ungodly reason they do pop... I'm sure you can find a set on eBay, Or you can contact me. I'll try to get you a set from the GM dealer with an employee discount.

If you want a technical diagram on where the airbag sensors are... I'll call EcoFire later today and have him fax them over to me and I'll put them up online for your viewing pleasure.

And if you still need help.... ASK SOMEONE ELSE... lol

Just kidding. I'll answer just about any question I can.

If i recall correctly airbag wiring is usually bright yellow inside the car, but under the hood it may not be. Just an idea
