OK so here is my problem.... i was out joy driving and i had the music up really loud. i was coming out of town doing 35mph and i dropped it into 3rd from 4th and took it up to about 5500 rpm's and i was a total dumb@ss and dropped into 2nd instead of 4th ON ACCIDENT and i noticed instantly that it was the wrong gear but by that time i guess it was alredy too late cause my car nose dived and my tach barried it's self. so i turned down my music and cleaned out my pants and listened to my exhaust note and right away it was different. it sounds to me like a v-twin harley
. so i was trying to think of possiblity's for why it sounds like this and i think that it maybe fouled out plugs or jumped the timing, or could it be something more serious(cause of the high revs) like a spun bearing???

An over-revved engine like yours probably floated some
valves. No. 1 step would be do cylinder compression checks.
cylinder compression check for sure, .......... without hearing the noise i can almost say its a valve lifter, or lifters..... try to find out where its coming from on the engine, which cylinder....... is it like a ticking loud sound? which makes the car run rough and the exhaust backpressure sound is thrown off........ if so probably the lifter(s)
Red line was exceeded in this case, and the rev limiter
was over-ridden....
I'll be curious, how many bent valves ?
ok so i am still under warrenty and the shop that i had work on it said that the diognostics showed nothing, and all they could tell me was that it is my cat-back exhaust... i told them they are full of @!#$, and they told me to un hook it at the flange at the back of the cat and see if it sounds any better. i have the megan racing cat-back and i checked it over and it didn't change anything when i took it off of my car. when i first started it up this morning i got out and went back and listened to the exhaust note and felt the temp. of the exhaust gases and it is so hot right away that you cant hold your hand there for too long, and i used to be able to drive around for an hour and still not have that hot of an exhaust.

Replace with some AC delco "Rapifire" plugs, check if you're filter is ok (oil, fuel, air filters) and then check manifold bolts, cat, muffler etc. And check plug wires too.

Stock... and loving every minute of it.
no matter what a diognostic check should have shown a code right?

not really i had an engine with a bad bearing that eventually resulted in a snapped rod going thru my block had a bad knock sound, poor exhaust flow (could feel it try and suck back in the pipe like a bad misfire) and 2 scan checks showed nothing wrong with the car. and i couldn't convince the shop to fix it untill it thru me rod thru the engine wall. so i got new enginge after that on them. but a scan will only show in all reallity if your car is producing excess pollution. which is ussually caused by a problem in the engine like timing being off should result in excess pollution which would throw a code. but the code reads off, a/f ratio b4 and after cat, knock sensor(i belive), most vacum lines(in one way or another), and most other sensors. they can onl pick up so much tho the rest is up to the driver and shop to notice.
the view is all the same unless your the lead dog.
