i have a 2002 ecotec auto. and for the last couple weeks my car has been overheating.
i took off the air filter and there was alittle dirt in the inside.. i don't know why it is over heating though. any ideas? thanks.

First off WTH does the air filter have do to with overheating?
First thing, check your coolant level.
Second thing your thermostat could be bad, causing it to overheat.
Finalyl your waterpump coould go going out, the impellar may be spinning less than it should.
Also your coolaing fan may not be coming on.
When does it overheat, city driving, highway, how long after starting the car, do you have the A/C on, so many questions, so much info you didnt give.
