Ok I know oil has to be changed every 5000km but is it really that important to have it changed every 3 months????
it's 6 months.
New Picture comming this summer.
its supposed to be every 3000 miles or 3 months according to the manual in the glove compartment.
although i shoot for 2700 miles.
I think the ideas behind this is that under utilized oil can build up moisture and other contanimants faster than heavier used oil. If you are driving less than 1000 miles a month and it is mostly stop and go I would say change it at 3mo or 3000 miles, whichever is first.
So wait.... does that mean that since I ultilize the hell out of my oil I can go longer? lol j/k
No. You would hit the 3000k mark sooner than 3 mo.
I change Mine the way my family has always changed it: 1yr or every 10-15k.
My current cavalier is on Mobil1 Supersyn extended, with 15k changes.
My last car which was in the family since its creation was a 93 chevy Lumina v6, which we changed the oil with Mobil 1 Supersyn every 10k, we sold it running with 260k miles on it.
M1 now warrantee's your engine's parts againts damage due to oil, and guarentees you can run your M1 in a naturally aspirated vehicle, for 15k or 1 year.
Imagine what this oil can do for racers if you change it every 3k
Its great protection and a small investment.
