My 05 is very new, and when the A/C is turned off a large amount of air passes through the vents. It's summer time and this is warm air coming through so it's forcing me to use the a/c with the windows down and its kinda annoying. Is this right?? my 99 cav didn't seem to do this (its a good amount of air riding through)

I posted that same question to when I got my 04 Cavalier, the dealer said it was normal.
Just turn the knob to reciculate, fartherest to the left it will go.

Same thing happens in the winter, when you turn the heater off cold air will seep through the vents... Just turn your vents away or keep the air on
cool thanks guys. I will just have to turn the vents away or something. I know my 99 wasn't like this so they changed something.

My 04 'fire does that also. It's so you get fresh air into the cabin. The idea being if the windows are rolled up (and sun roof closed) you can use up all the oxygen inside the car and fall assleep while driving.
my 01 cavy did that as well, but the air came out of the floor vents instead of the dash vents. it was kinda annoying... depending on the season, my shoe eather got really hot or cold
as said, if you set the HVAC to recerc it'll kill most of the flow, but your still going to have some air coming out of the vents, just no where near as noticable.
^^^^same, having the sunroof open creates a vacuum in the car and pulls the air in faster.

not true. you can close the windows and sunroof but you arent going to cut off all the air if the vents didnt let air in. there are other ways for oxygen to get in.

Unless you have your car sealed up as tight as an airlock, you're gonna get major air seeping in... Now, if you have a nice-sized hole in your exhaust system underneath (or near) the cabin, theoreticaly, you can pull enuf CO into the interior to make you fall asleep... I can't say I know of that happening to anyone I know, however.

mine comes through the floor vents... freezes my feet during the winter lol
all cars have air that flow through them , its normal
some cars its more noticable than others , but they all do it
Since the post is back at the top I'll say this: Setting it at the re-circulate eliminates practically all of it. I think it was worse when it was brand new. Also, my 99 definitely came in the floor vents, I remember my foot changing temps. I also remember that with the air off in my 99 that whatever temperature I had it set at would affect the incoming air, weird! haven't checked that out on the 05
