Alright, I Have a 96 Cavalier 2.2! I was going to change the fuel filter and I got the one side off and then I noticed I needed a tool to take off the other side with the black plastic clip! None of the autoparts knew which was the right tool and how to use it, so I tried a couple differnet ways and in the process I broke all the little black plastic clips things off the sides! Does anyone know how to get that off or does it need a new hose etc.?
The filter does not leak after I broke those clips off but it needs to be replaced!
Also on a side note it really is running rough. It has 127k miles on it! When it starts it wants to chug and idle really bad to the point of dying! Wehn I started it earlier it was blowing some nasty smell out of the exhaust kinda gassy and blackish blue, is that from the fuel filter being taken off and put back on again?
Thanks for any help in advance!!

U can buy new clips and hoses at advance or auto zone over in the help section near the tools, specifically for those problems u have.I am not sure about the other issues at hand tho. Those clips are not worth a @#%&*@# any how they always break cheap az plastic.
Could I just cut the hose and put a hose clamp on the hose over the filter? If so I could just as well do that!

Blue exhaust is due to oil burning in the combustion chamber, most likely caused by worn piston rings.
