A couple weeks ago for my birthday my girlfriend put lowering springs, but not new struts, on my car, and now there is a loud, high pitch squeaking or creaking noise coming from the front end when i go over bumps, its seems to only happen 1 - 50 or so mph, and then there is also a loud deep clunk front almost seems to be the rear passenger side, please tell me that it is something that i can fix on my own and that its not the struts, thanks~!

I'm curious about this one too, I have this noise as well after changing a power steering pump. Has me a little baffled. And my car is not lowered.
Mine is more of a creaking noise - I don't get the loud clunk though that follows.
Check your swaybar endlinks and bushings.

I would also look into your upper strut mounts....
I have to do mine now. My car would have a squeak/scrape kind of noise coming from the front end only when the wheel is turned, and/or I hit a bump.
Going straight on flat roads, I don't have any problems.
I had this problem checked out by a GM mechanic, and their diagnosis was the problem is my upper mounts and bearings.
My dealer quoted me $650 for parts and labor. I picked up the parts myself for about $120.
I know it's JUST a Cavalier, and I'm sorry if I hurt your ego.
is there any way that i would be able to see if my upper strut mounts are bad? i mean am i just looking to see if the bushing is torn/broken?

hey check in the tire area and make sure the tire is not rubbing up against the splash gaurd. my friend had the same sounds on his lowered car, it would squeak when he hit bumps and his tires would rub on high speed turns.
