I have been having a long time problem with high speed wheel vibs... So i'm sure alot of people remember my posts on that problem. I swapped out the old ones and threw in 2 new fronts. My driver side one i could move the bearing in and out like 1/4 inch. While the other side was still no play. I did the driver side first and took my time.. the passenger side i rushed because it was gettin late and the mosquitos were really bad. So i threw it all back together. Now my driver side is smooth as glass, and now i can feel my passenger side vibrating really bad now and it didn't before....
. Now my question is, when you tighten the the torx bolts down, should you go little at a time and move around or just ram them all the way in? Or should i put the CV shaft nut back on and run it home with an inpact wrench before i tighten the torx bolts?
You tighten the torx head bolts first. Those should be torqued to 90ft lbs I believe. Then you do the nut on the axle. Thats 180 ft. lbs. Put a little blue loc tite on there if you have it.
yea thats what i did.... wonder if it was a bad bearing.. or i didn't tighten them really good enough.
I replaced mine 3 times now .. thankfully its all warrenty. Make sure you tighten the torx by hand first all 3 of them. then go back and torque them down, yes tou can get the bearing a little lopsided. once you have them torqued, hit the axle nut with everything you have.

Hit 200 NA it broke once, Hit 213 it broke again,
Hitting 300 NA is further away than I thought.
yea on the second side i put them in with a torque wrench till snug all the way around... i need to just go by hand like i did on the other side.
Where did you get your parts Cody? I need to do this as well as replace the resistor on my blower motor.....

I found an error on their website and got timkens for 49.99 each at autozone. I forget the link, but its somwhere in the archived posts on wheel bearings. Took me a long time to dig it up.
This may be a dumb question, but did you use high temp axle grease on your bearings?

The J's have sealed bearing in the front .. no need for grease .. just pull the old 1 slide the new 1 in and bam your done, unless you want to replace the seal too.

Well not the actual bearings...
But where the axel contacts the bearing.....
It's the only thing I can think of only having done 1 wheel bearing so far....
