My car is a 1997 Cavalier, 2.2I4, Automatic with A/C. I recently did an engine swap, and during this engine swap my father left out what looked like a shim, that goes between the power steering pump, and the power steering pump bracket. Well now the belt is squeling. I wondered if it was maybe the A/C Compressor, so I went to Autozone and bought a belt for the engine without A/C. When the belt for the engine with A/C was on, the car would squel under acceleration. The squeling didn't stop it just changed to when it was at idle, so I figured it must the power steering pump. Well today the squeling noise stopped, so I thought maybe it was the A/C, so I put the old belt back on, and the squeling was back, but only during acceleration.
Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be?
