Well lets see... the head warped back in october so I figured I'd get the head ported and polished and stuff
well the shop doin the job couldn't find valves, so after a few weeks I finally told them I could get them valves and they agreed so I did.
Now they needed springs and retainers and locks
<sigh> so now I place another order to get that crap in. Shipment is delayed, FINALLY i get it. Awesome.
Now the shop needs the seat pressures... ugh so I call up the company and after some calling and calling again, I decide to give up and tell the shop just to go with what they think is best.
On my way to picking up the head from the shop, the car I'm in (my dad's subaru) overheats and strands me on the side of the highway. Awesome....
So fastforward... I get my car back together its running good and everything... my g/fs car is going into the body shop so we were gonna use my car till she got it back... then something happened to my timing chain tensioner. Now its making a horrible noise whenever its running... car's out of action AGAIN
<SIGH> so i goto the store to get the stuff to fix it... nobody has it... SO I order it from napaonline.com I get the stuff yesterday. g.f got her car back already... so much for me being a supportive boyfriend and letting her use my car.
So I tear into the car today to start fixing it... I get stuck when I try to get the timing cover off... figured out you have to remove the studs on the bottom that connect to the oil pan. Alright thats fine... wow they're pretty small... ok so I have to run to my friends to get a small enough bit to get it off (4mm).. get the one side off fine.. the other side is a bit tighter in there...
end up stripping the living hell out of the stud <SIGH>
try using vice grips... no good
I come inside boiling over with frustration when I realize I can cut the bit so that vice grips can grab it easier so as I grab the extension cable and my dremel to go outside it starts to rain... then I rush cleaning everything up and here I am, my car is still on jackstands and still not fixed and I need it for work tomorrow. My dad's car is still fubar so I can't use that for work, and there's no other vehicles I have access to.
Life is pissing me off right now... I hate how whenever I get some bad weather in my life (metephorically speaking of course) it doesn't just rain, it friggin pours.
I know they have stripped stud remover bits and the like, but do they come as small as 4mm?? I haven't been able to find any... if anyone could steer me in the right direction it'd be appreciated
well we have my car back now. the skwirl is a bitch, she should chill out.
but really, you'll get it fixed peej.
=)love you

yes they make the removers that small jsut not easy to find.
if the shop couldnt get the stuff for your rebuild, u should have gone to another shop, when i worked at a shop we could always get more parts then your average person, so when u can get parts the shop cant the shop has issues.
back to the bolt, i would just cut it off and redrill the hole and tap it as long as u have space to drill into it.
