Wheel Squeak
Thursday, April 14, 2005 11:09 AM
My 2001 Sunfire has just started making some wierd squeaking noises when I turn, mainly to the right from my left wheel.

It sounds like squeaky brakes but its only really when i turn. I just noticed it and I havent noticed any changs in handling or turning or anything. Any idea what it can be and is it ok to be driving today with it?

Thanks

could be anything...brake pads, rotor warped, wheel bearings going, cv joint could be squeaking...i would say check the brake pads first.. my car did a similar squeak but it was the wear indicator on the brake pad..dont know why it did it all the time, but once i changed the pads it went away..weird..

It is most likely your brake pads. Invest $30 and get a new set. The reason you only here it on the turns is because of the forward inertia of the car being slowed by the turn which forces the wear indicator closer to the rotor cause the squek.
