yeah so like i said i'm changing it all out this weekend.... my water pump is leaking like crazy .... and i figured i'd do put a new belt on while i'm there. so any pointers , do's and dont's ..... whats up.... just tryin to get as much info as i can before i go diggin into it.... and another ? do i have to take out BOTH motors mounts to be able to raise and lower the engine to get to the bolts on the timing belt cover? .... any tips will be alot of help, thanks !
oh yeah.... its a 98 2.4L

Set aside the entire weekend for the job, and make damn sure you get the timing right when you put the chain back on.

yeah i'm getting this tool to lock my cam gears in place so i dont lose it....... yeah i got this whole weekend set aside for it

1- it's a chain, not a belt, not a good start if you don't know what kind of part you have on your engine.

2- why lock the cam gear? I see everyone here freaking out when it come to timming. what's so hard about puttin an M8 bolt in each gear with the hole in the housing?!?!?!?
you don't know how to align the dot on the crank too? It's so easy putting back the timming that if you put it wrong(I'm not talking about 1 tooth off), you shouldn't ber working on your car.

Change the water pump, but leave the timing chain alone.

water pump is a bitch to change on a 2.4
