Hey guys i seem to have a loud and annoying problem. If i shift into second at low rpm's, i hear a loud rattle. Or if i have the a/c on, it will sometimes do it in first. Any ideas on what this could be? i thought it could be the throw out bearing in the tranni, but it happens when i dont even use the clutch. Like if i turn a corner, and start in second. I have a 2001 2.2 cavalier 5 speed.
is it an exhaust shield rattling?
i really have no clue what it is. it sounds like something to do with the transmission. any ideas?
depends on if you have the getrag tranny, if you do dont worry about it happens with all of 'em. 00-up had them i think

is there anything to do to fix it?
YEA!!! WHAT FIXES IT???????
6 quarts of Synthetic ATF fixes it. Shifting will be a little more difficult if you don't rev match or double clutch though.

Do not do this!^
This is the infamous
Getrag tranny noise.
There is no "fix" for it, but you can quell the noise quite a bit with 3qrts of B&M Synthetic ATF.

One of the reasons why I was happy to get rid of my cavalier.. Nothing would cure the noise for me.. In the summer, it would get really bad, especially if you drive in parking lots (2nd gear, low rpm's)..
