a really high flow cat. rich mix--fouled plug, stuck open or leaking injector, possibly piston rings if there is a grey tinge to it but since you have an 04 i doubt it. i think having plugs that are too cold will do it as well.

Its nothing to be worried about, a small amount of black smoke means your car is running rich and all J's do that, especially when you get on it.

bringing back an old post...

My i have AEM CAI and full exhaust, running denso iridium plugs. My car runs rich, like black soot all over the end of the tail pipe. Is there anyway to make the car not run so rich? It was running rich before the plugs too. I use seafoam in the car and my friend says when it blows the little bit of smoke it smells like the seafoam. Is that bad? II just doin't want to be running rich all the time damage my car. Thanks!

everytime you floor it your car will run rich. when it enters WOT the computer stops reading from the o2 sensors and basically just starts dumping a lot of fuel in the engine. if you dont like running rich, dont floor it
