i am changing my head gasket right now, and put on a new head. my old head had studs all the way across on the exhaust side, and the new one only has 3 studs over by the EGR tube.

i guess i'm just going to go find some bolts to use for the rest of the exhaust manifold, but i was just curious as to whether or not anybody else out there has only 3 studs on the head, or if somebody just pulled the rest of the studs outta this head.

any idea on how to get them out? i tried vise-gripping onto one of them to try and unscrew it out of the head with no luck.

the end of the stud should be star shaped, just use a small socket and remove 5, 5.5, or 6 mm should do it

well, found out that a regular 5.5mm socket will take em right out. thanks man.
