The first 2 fan speeds would not work, so I replaced the Blower Resistor in a 2000 Cavalier. The part #is 52476725.
First I located the blower resistor, it is on the passenger side behind the blower fan. (The Blower fan is covered by the big circular black cover.)
The blower resistor is held in by two 5.5mil bolts (they are gold colored)
A photo showing the wires running to the blower resistor.
The white plug is plugged into the resistor. Unplug it from the he resistor.
I used an offset adaptor on my drill, and a 1/4 inch ratchet with extension bar with a universal. The 1/4 ratchet is all you need, I couldn't get the back 5.5mil on the first try it took a little work to get it out.
Got the two bolts out now and pulling the resistor down.
Notice that the bolt closest to the rear of the car is on the left side of the resistor.
Now put the new resistor in tighten the bolts and plug it in. Turn it on and try it out.

Taking the front passenger seat out takes 2 min and makes it a lot easier to contort yourself if you're not very flexible.
That is an awesome "how to" job. Great work with the pictures and the text.
Pat yourself on the back because you made it easy for anyone with this problem.

unless your only 5'3 you can just lay on the floor and still have enough room w/o movin the seat
pretty easy fix, ive done it before, but can be a pain in the @!#$ because its just so cramped under there
if you take out the blower...it makes it even easier......
I just did this in my wife's 2001 Sunfire. That front bolt was too close to the front wall and floor for me to be able to get a socket on, even without the universal. I ended up using an open end wrench and it came right out. Also, removing the blower only takes a minute (three bolts and an electrical connector) and makes it a lot easier to see.
Good write-up.

that.....was....ridiculous.
just did my gf's 98 sunfire. definitely easier if you take the seat and blower out. i was able to get at that back screw with a lot of pressure up against the firewall insulator using just a small 1/4" ratchet with extension. but it was not fun. they couldn't have left just a little more space? 1mm would have made a world of difference.

Yeah, I screwed up and deleted them accidentally. Domestictuners contacted me a while ago, asking if they could use my write up. So I believe if you search domestictuners.com it should be on there some where.
