Looking for help,
Yesterday I punched out my old cam bearings in my 2.2l ohv engine block thinking that I need to line up the oil holes with the mains.... then I noticed there's an oil groove like in a sbc.
Can anyone confirm the oil hole orientation?
I didn't bother to take pics before removing the old ones and now all I have for reference is the wear patterns, i.e. the wear is at the bottom half of the cam which places the oil holes at the 12 o'clock position. (Assuming the valvetrain pushes the cam downwards causing it to wear like that)
Thanks in advance!
I can't confirm. But having been in that situation before, I'd say there should be plenty of witness marks on the bearings. If they are grooved all the way around, just line up the hole. But generally, the grooves are not on the thrust side as it reduces bearing load capacity. Hope that helps

I know it would be extra but these things are so cheap now but a junk motor just to tear apart and see for yourself!
