What's the mileage interval to change a timing belt on a non-Ecotec 2200 engine?
The car is a 2000 Cavalier LS w/ around 65k miles on it.
Bonus question; what is the interval of an Ecotec 2.2l? I might be looking at another used Cavalier for my other daughter, but it might be a newer model.
Thanks!
Id say about 100k you should inspect it. if it is good, go another 50k.
Ecotec's start to cause problems around 200k Mostly the guides wear out.
Seriously? That seems pretty high, but I know it's a non-interference engine, so I guess if it breaks it's not a huge deal; no bent valves, etc...
2200 has a timing chain?
Well, that's cool. I guess I'll leave it be for a long, long time then...
Thanks for the help!
