Hello, I just got tires on my Z24 and am starting to fix it up again. How would I find a vacuum leak exactly? I tried moving lines around hoping for something but I can't seem to find it and a few mechanics that have looked at it seem to think that there is for sure a vacuum leak somewhere along the line in the car.
Mainly I would like to know where in gods name to look and fix it so that I can drive it to work again. That would be a good start.
Thanks,
Ian
There should be a vacuum manifold on the front of the engine on the left. Get a vacuum hand pump from Harbor Freight for under $20 and pull each line one by one and connect them to your pump. You are checking the guage on the hand pump to see which line is unable to hold a vacuum. Once you find the line you can spray it with carb cleaner to see if the engine revs, this will tell you when you find the crack in the line.
Yeah like Yorxs said, if I suspect a vacuum leak somewhere I just spray carb/electronics cleaner around any air component with the car running. If the car surges (tries to die or revs up), you've got a leak. I often find on my car because of the added weight of the blower and heavier intake manifold, my vacuum leaks were almost always my intake manifold gasket. Also check your throttle body gasket and intake parts to make sure its sealing up good to the manifold. Take your time and spray everything you can think of with the car running, it could be a slight leak but since you dont have any details of whats happening, its hard to say where it is (and no engine codes says its not a major leak).

Awesome, got it. Yeah wasn't bad just rarely would rev up and die. I got it fixed now. Thanks a lot guys!
