Wierd issue. Low power/ bucking.

Hey, im having an issue with my car. I have owned it 3 months and it did it to me when i first got it (which was about 2 months ago) . The issue is that the car has hardly any power in any gear and when i let off the gas it bucks like crazy. As soon as i shut off the car and restart it, it seems fine. The car is an 05 cavalier z type with the 2.2 ecotec and 5 speed manual transmission. Only mod is an aem cai. Theres no check engine light on either when this happens.

Maybe you spark plugs. My 2000 2.4 5 speed would buck under load below 3,000 rpms really bad. I put new plugs on last summer and it started again a month ago less the 8,000 miles on them. I read somewhere in a post to only use acdelco so I ordered 4 for $26. It's been 500 miles so far so good.

On the inside my car looks like a fighter jet.

It seems to me though that if the spark plugs had issues, they wouldn't just go away when you restart the car would they?

Maybe ignition pack or ECU? What get's "rebooted" that might do this?

I say it's an ignition issue, icm,coils,boots

Might as well put new plugs in while you have it tore down though

Im thinking it may be a sensor. Gonna get it checked to see if theres any codes. When i start the car up whether it sets over night of for 15mins theres a ticking noise that sounds like its coming from the head. Once the car warms up it goes away. Almost sounds like its an exhaust leak but i dont think it is. Im thinking it could possibly camshaft position sensor or idle air control sensor. Like i say im gonna get it checked for codes. Going to pull plugs tomorrow and may pull valve cover to look at the valve train for any abnormal wear.

The ticking noise i was hearing was an exhaust leak. 2 studs on the exhaust manifold had backed off.

Had a similar problem, in damp weather my car(02 sunfire 5 speed) would hesitate between 2500 and 3000 until I ran the system enough to dry it out. Would also buck like crazy. Turned out to be a cracked spark plug, replaced that last night and had not a single problem with it today( raining all dsay)
