Ok, so I work as a service technician at Mall*Wart, not that glamorous I know, and yes I know of all the bad crap that happens because of @!#$ workers that Mall*Wart hires. Anyways, I had my first oil change on a 2000 Cav with a 2.2 non-Eco. WHAT THE H&LL WAS GM THINKING?????? That filter is so da%# hard to get to, how many of you guys are running a filter relocation kit? Cuz dayum
not that bad really just reach behind the power steering pump. But youre probably working from underneath being in a shop so auto trans would make htem hard to get to. Just do it from the top.
I tried lol found out quick my forearms are a little too thick to be reaching down between cowl and p/s pump. The shop they went to last had freaking Hercules working for them or something, guy must have been cranking on it so freaking hard to get it on
You think thats hard..
Try a supercharged ecotec on a cav with intercooler hoses
I don't mind working on my car anymore thanks to the bs I deal with everyday at work. A stock, unmolested car is so much nicer than the rigged sh!t I deal with all the time.
I fixed the oil filter location by swapping a different engine in.
worked like a charm.

It is alot easier with a TVS.
My old OHV was a 5-speed and i never had trouble getting from under the car.

Nice lol sounds like the correct route to take
Its way easier with a 5 speed. M62 s/c ecos are a serious pain. But with the auto OHVs its definitely best to grab them from the top

From the top is easiest.
Lol without power steering pump and with the PCM relocated and cruise under the dash, and no ac I can almost stand in that corner of the engine bay now. Oil change in 5 minutes FTW.

I've got a 2200 with a 4t40e and it's not hard reaching in and grabbing it. If it's gorilla gripped on, put a screwdriver through it lol

I like the term "gorilla gripped" lol
Agree it is a pain in the ass to get too. I changed oil on my moms 2000 sunfire and was searching all over for the filter. Finally seen it hiding behind some wires and whatnot, tried to get at it from the bottom with no luck, tried from the top with no luck. Tried from the bottom different angle no luck, tried from the top again and had to bend my arm in some crazy ways to get it to fit between everything and actually reach the filter. My 02 5 speed sunfire, it is pretty much near right beside the oil drain plug.
