Hi All,
I just bought a 96 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2l. it had break problems, needed to replace a wheel cylinder, a break line, a break hose, and part of another break line. finally got that done. Now i can worry about why its not running right. It is blowing alot of smoke for a small gas motor. I read 131 + 11330 are bank 1 sensor 1. but wich one is that, by the manifold or by the cat? im thinking manifold.
Also would just replacing that one O2 sensor clear all the codes?
Anything you guys can warn me about, give me advice on fixing this? I removed my air filter thinking that is stopping air flow, to make it run rich. but that didnt do anything.
I went a head an changed the Upstream O2 Sensor. i forgot to manually clear the codes. but the car is running a lot smoother. and doesn't have any strong odor. so i am hoping the CEL will go away on it's own
Looks like you're on the right track. Bank 1, sensor 1 is the upstream sensor in the manifold. The one after the cat the bank 1, sensor 2. That being said, take it to advance auto, autozone, etc and have them clear the codes for you. That way if it comes back you know that you still have problems.
