In need of help ASAP

I have a 1998 cavalier 2.2 5 spd Well about two weeks ago my car got brOken into and shortly after it started sputtering an falling on its face and it shut off while I was driving it. It turned over but wouldn't start so I waited about a half hour then it started right up and I was halfway home when it seemed like the thrOttle cable was gone it was idling but when I hit the petal it wouldn't rev up so I pulled it home. I let it sit all night and went out the next day and it ran fine like nothing happened so I drove it for two days before it acted up again. It would run then shut off like someone just turned the key off so I babied it home. So here's where I'm at i turn the key on and the fuel pump don't kick on but if I jump it with a wire at the relay the pump kicks on and I have spark so does anyone have an idea of what it could be? I'm completely stumped

If your car was broken into id suggest looking at your ignition switch..

The leg that powers the pump relay could be damaged. Any evidence of tampering?

Ya ignition switch is a good idea. Based on the description of events you make want to look into a crank sensor too, cause same to me as is to you minus the whole car stolen thing. Very sorry to hear that too, don't suppose you got it back because they caught the guy.

Z doesn't mean last, it just lapped A.

Ok I bought a crank sensor but haven't put it in yet because I don't wanna do like I did my truck and just keep buying things for it and end up investing 1000 dollars and I don't think they tampered with my ignition and no they didn't catch the guy but if I caught him he wouldn't be feelin to good after I got done. I'll put in the crank sensor and check my ignition and let you guys know what happends from there

Ok well I crawled under my car to change the crank sensor and noticed a wire was bare and laying on the half shaft I do believe it's called and wasn't sure if that could be my issue. it runs back toward the back of the car kinda buy the exhaust

No I found it ran to the o2 sensor but what's the best way to get the crank sensor out because it broke off flush with the block and it also kinda looks like where it broke off the plastic was fried like it shorted out and I wasn't sure if that was a possibility?

Kind of a redneck suggestion...but maybe drill a pilot hole, screw a small screw in it, and PULLL! lol. Not saying it will work, just a suggestion.

Does it crank and not start? Or not even crank?

Uhm..... bad fuel pump relay? Try swapping the relay with one of the other ones and see what happens.

Ok well I'm not the best with electrical but what wires on the relay should be hot when the key is on?
