Recirc Mode

Have a 2005 cavalier base. I turn fan on hi, temp clear left on cold, selector dial to recirculation, and push in ac button. Lots of air but no cold air. If I move selector to vent ahh cold air. Shouldn't it blow bettter colder air on recirculation (1st setting on left)?

If the ac button is pushed in wouldn't the ac be on? Actually there is no differance weather the button is in or out the air is not cold in rec mode. On my Silverado you turn fan to hi, selector to vent, push ac button and push the recirc button to get the fastest most cold air when you first get in. This is where I'm confused because the cavalier dosen't blow cold on recirc. Is there a problem with my cav or am I just doing it wrong? Thanks

I am by far not a newbie when it comes to working on cars. I had purchased a 05 cav (only 60000 miles on it) and have 3 months, 3000 mi warrenty on it. I don't beleive the ac is working in recirc mode. Took it to dealer and they said they put some dye in and come back in couple weeks they will check it. mmmm I know what that means, they want no part of it. So my theory is the recirculation door isn't operating. Should I remove the heater controls and add sucktion to the orange vac line and listen for the door above the fan to make a thud noise from opening and closing? Or maybe remove the fan and reach or look up inside to see if the door is working? All my other vehicals the recirc door closes off air from outside and recirculates air from insde only to heat up or cool down the interior quicker.
