Ok I know this shouldn't be that hard of a repair but Im having some issues on my girlfriends 99 cavy. The filter that was in there came out pretty easily. I didnt have much trouble with the plastic tabs. I've tried putting 2 different new filters on and they each are leaking fuel on the quick disconnect side. I put the old one back on and it didnt leak but I just barely wiggled the line and it kept coming off spraying fuel. I've been searching on here and have seen every one talking about some black taps that stay in the line or something? But on hers there werent and other tabs other than the plastic ones that stay on the fuel filter itself.
are the metal or plastic tabs that seem to be missing an item that you can buy from the dealership? Ive seen some of the guys here say to break those tabs out and put the filter back in without any issues, but I cannot get this thing to stop leaking with the new filters and new O rings. I changed the one on my Z24 last year and I had nowhere near this kind of troube with it.
Anyone have any advice on getting this thing to stop leaking?
No clue. Mine is leaking too. Imma just cut the quick connect off and put a piece of hose on...

except that's a ford style line.
op: sounds to me like you've got something in the line side connector, be it an old o ring or something. try and get in there with a pick or scribe and see whats what.

Ok so I was looking in the repair manual and it shows 2 different style line connectors, the plastic kind like in that link and then a metal end on the line. the one on her car is metal and if I was thinking that 95-00 all had plastic connectors. I already pulled the old o ring out cuz i thought that may be the issue. Do the 02-05 cavaliers have the metal connector and a different kind of fuel filter?
Ok I managed to get that thing running with no leaks this morning. I did 2 things different, I used a slightly smaller o ring than the one I tried yesterday and I used a pick to pull a very small piece of the old O ring out that I missed yesterday. Still dont no why her line looks different than mine but anyways, thanks guys for the help.
