It all started with my engine continuing to show signs of overheating. I checked the coolant and it was full, the fan was working as normal. So I continue on my trip trying to think of what might be causeing this problem, as i am driving down the freeway going 100km/h the temp gauge continues to climb (there was nowhere to pull over) so I kept driving and just as I get to my turn my engine bay starts puffing thick white smoke.
I have done the oil check to see if it was milky --nope perfectly fine.
water pump is not leaking at all.
I would like opinions on this please, I have never had to take apart a head to see if the headgasket is blown. So fixing this motor is going to be something that I will learn as I go if it is the head gasket.
I am looking for struts for my newly aquired Eibach pro-kit performance coils, If anybody has some?
I had the same issue with my 2001 2.4L Cavalier. You didnt mention what you're driving, but the white smoke is indicative of coolant leaking into the the head. Here are my thoughts, but I "am" new to all of this, but learning as I go:
The smoke coming from under your hood would indicate a head gasket failure. Now then, if your oil pump went out, you wouldn't see evidence in your oil (milkiness) b/c it's not cycling through. It's possible that the water pump failed/jammed. Any noise at the pump at all?
I am in the process of tearing down my Cav to replace gaskets, etc., but am stuck at the final exhaust manifold bolt!
