Help! Fuel pump bad?

Driving to work today, my 02 Ecotec Sunfire started losing power and then stalled and now won't start. I pulled the cap off the valve on the fuel line to the injectors and pressed in the pin and gas just dribbled out the first time and after subsequent attempts to start no gas came out. I don't hear the pump priming when I turn the ignition to on, but I don't remember how loud it was before. I feel like I used to be able to hear it.
It cranks fine, but doesn't catch.
Whacked the gas tank with a mag light a few times, but nothing changed.
130K miles and well maintained.

Does this sound like a fuel pump?

If it is an issue with the fuel pump how likely is it that the problem lies with the pump itself and not a relay or fuse to the pump?

Thanks

Dan

try swapping your fuel pump relay first.

Thanks. I tried a new relay and it didn't work.

In my frustration I whacked the tank a few more times on both sides and the pump primed and she started up, so I'm assuming it's the fuel pump.

The thing that sucks is that I just filled up yesterday >

Such a difference in price between the pumps available at advance/autozone vs. Rockauto, but I don't know if I can wait for a delivered part.....

So the Airtex fuel pump I ordered doesn't come with a wiring harness, but replacing the harness is recommended. Is it really necessary?

Thanks.
