My cars falling apart.. Please Help
Wednesday, May 16, 2012 3:12 PM
Its been awhile since ive been on the old jbo. But now im looking for help. My 2003 Pontiac Sunfire is having multiple issues.

Ill just lay them out to make it easy.

1. The gauge cluster keeps resetting. Ill be driving along and all the needles will drop to 0 and then spring back and gauge cluster sometimes displays "error". Happens alot while driving along.

2. The A/C only works when clutch is pushed in. While driving the vents blow the same temp air as is outside, and when i hold in clutch i can hear compressor engage and feel cold air.

3. I need a headlight bracket. My wife hit a deer some months back and being strapped for cash i replaced the fender and she bought a headlight on ebay but it doesnt have the mounting bracket to mount it so right now im one headlight short. (Passenger side)

Thanks all.

1. bad ground to the cluster, or the cluster is toast
2. sounds like the belt is slipping at RPMs higher than idle
3.would need to get one from someone here,a boneyard or the dealer. I saw someone parting out a sunburst orange cavalier that might have it, might still be in the classifieds.

Thanks, my cav (in signature) is still running like a champ. Its the Blue sunfire (my wifes ie now my dd) that is falling apart.

We have had another issue now. The car will start sometimes and then other times it wont. Like the starter is bad.

Would a bad starter cause electrical issues like the ones im seeing.

Not a bad starter, bad wire job yess. Battery has been doing this to a few friends lately. Get it checked. If you can, swap it from your other car. See if it goes away
