misfire in cylinder 1

My girlfriends 96 cavalier 2.4 gives us a misfire in cylinder 1 code. it only misfires when you really accelerate, trying to reach above 3k rpm. the idle is pretty rough and high when you first start it, so you have to let it sit for a little or else it'll chug and be rough. She also seems to get bad gas mileage but i dont have anything to compare it to since the car has always been like this since ive known her.

Her dad replaced both coils, the ICM and the coil housing but none of that has solved the problem .Anyone know what it could possibly be?

Im not to familiar with the car myself. Can someone tell me where the spark plugs and boots are before i start taking everything apart?

If you look under the hood and top of engine where it says 2.4 twin cam and such, you'll see 4 15mm bolts i believe they are, remove those and unplug ICM thats on the right end lookin at motor, and it comes off, you prolly will have to pull a little on it to et it off, check the boots and plugs, get Acdelco plugs, NO BOSCH!!! I'd get new boots anyways since the cars 15 years old even if they look fine, i think i got mine for 15 or 20 bucks. It was 60 bucks for ACdelco plugs & the boots. And to clarify, these motors have one coil pack which is the big white thing youll see when you take off the top plate.
