can you clarify, when unhooked does the mechanism on the trans works easy or the shifter assembly moves easily?

Well then i'd check your shifter bushings and linkages under the console, just take the knob off and pop the plastic up and slide it off so you can see what your shifter is doing under there. Another good place to check is where the cables go from the interior through the firewall to the engine bay, they can be seen easily from under the car or even down he backside of the engine. basically look for anything that looks wrong.. like any wear on the outside of the cables or kinks tight bends etc.. that would limit the cable travel.. I think most cables are all plasic on plastic so you can't get corrosion but i'm not sure, haven't ever looked at one in depth.

i got new cables shifts perfect while the old cable <---n---> is very hard to move even when straightened out of the car and other one moves freely
