Heater core sounds like but my carpet isn't wet and my windows don't fog up or make a slick moisture with defroster on...hoses to heater core look fine, don't seem to be leaking from anywhere else...coolant level has been slowly getting lower and lower each day
anything else i should check before i start ripping out the whole dash?
If you have an odor of coolant with the heat on, it leads to a leak in the heater core, yes.
is youre heater core making a gurgling sound?. If the heater core is toast. You will smell coolant when the heat is on.
I would run some radiator flush and water through your system. Also blast your heat when you run with the flush in your car for a little. Then re-fill and if it still smells strong of coolant with the heat on, then tear away, lol. I also would get a new radiator cap if yours is original. I use to smell coolant because of my cap.
No gurgling sound, and ill tr the radiator flush and new cap, thanks...also last night i was out driving for half an hour maybe less, toward the end of the night, the smell wasnt as strong. i had the heat on the whole time, maybe i just got used to the smell lol idk
Just re reading this, we dont have red caps lol i'll do a new reservoir cap
Is there like a heat core drain hole?? looking in my engine bay behind the motor....those 2 A/c lines, in the middle of them but lower there is a black hole looking thing, it's pouring out coolant very fast, so basically coolant is coming out of the firewall out this thing
That is the drain for the condensation from your evaporator. If it's leaking coolant then there is a hole in your heater core for sure.

Alright thanks, i pulled the hoses off and connected them with a tube in between for now, atleast im not leaking coolant anymore and it's drivable until i get a day off..thanks guys
when my heater core/head gasket went out it leaked like crazy from that drain coming out of the firewall.. not trying to jack your post but is it hard to replace a heater core? i still have my hose looped around bypassing the heater core..and we had a few cold days down here in ga and it got me missing my heater..lol iv had some people tell me you have to take the whole dash out
Yes whole dash has to come out, i heard it's not hard just alot of work and to take random pics to remember where everything went....can you explain to me how a bad headgasket made it leak from the firewall?
