Hi guys,
I have a 2002 Cavalier VL sedan, and about 2 days ago my A/C control lighting gave out, and haven't worked since. All the other interior lights work fine, the A/C controls work perfectly, and the fuse is fine. The instrument cluster needs replacing due to short in the odometer, but the guages light up, and the cluster works perfectly.
Could a faulty dimmer switch be to blame? Are there any bulbs in the A/C controls that could have burnt out? What would be the best way diagnose the problem? Also if anyone has an easy to understand wiring diagram of the interior lighting wiring that would be Awsome.
P.S the car had had an after market deck installed 4 years ago.
Thanks for the help.
Yes. Two bulbs are in the Ac controls. They are behind the unit... in between the knobs. I have not Taken it apart since mine still work, but here is a Diagram, they are # 14.
The part # 16036882 is if you want to get it from the dealer, but I would just take the bulb out and check radioshack for one that is similar.
I doubt the cars has faulty wiring, but anything is possible. The odometer not lighting up is a common problem with 2000-2005 clusters. If the dimmer switch still dims your cluster, then it is fine.
My bad, your year only had one bulb I believe, but same part #. SO it is most likely the bulb.
Freelancer1988 you are Awsome. Thanks for your help, I will pick up the part and take care of it this weekend. You've been most helpful.
