Just bought a 04 cavalier, about a month ago.
The car will randomly die when driving. Thaank god it's a standard, usually downshifting and popping the clutch will start it back up. Now, it usually starts this mess when I get on the highway, and it is 100% random. Sometimes it won't do it, then others it will do it 5-10 times in a mile.
The car idles, starts stops and runs just fine other than that.
It did die on me the other day sitting in a parkinglot for about 20 minutes with the AC on. Wouldn't start for about 5 minutes after that.
It will die in any gear I found out today, any suggestions?
And when it dies none of the gauges go crazy, there is no weird noises, it just stalls out and then it's done.
Need a bit more info. Does it do this over bumps or rough spots in the road? Does the motor die and the lights will stay on? or when it dies is it like turning the key off?
Any check engine lights?

No, all lights stay on, and yes there is a check engine light on. Which the previous owner said was a little hose broken from the, I guess air filter to the mainfold. But, the "experts" at autozone told me was my gascap. And it doesn't seem to do it over rough spots in particular, just seems, wildly random.
you cant trust previous owners. Mine had a "short" and the bumper that had been "ripped off" just needed "bolted on". There is no power issues, and i need a new bumper cover for it to stay on without the addition of metal screws. I still got it at a good price and it runs great!
